YouTube launches advertising app for small businesses
YouTube is launching a new app to help small business make adverts. YouTube Director is a new feature that provides filming, music and editing tools to users to make more professional videos.
It allows small to medium-sized businesses make high-quality adverts for free using just their smartphones.
Google has launched this feature as three different products: the YouTube Director for Business iPhone app, the YouTube Director automated video service and YouTube Director on-site.
The first product is the app, YouTube Director – a free service that allows users to make adverts using their smartphones with no prior editing or filming experience required and more than 100 templates to choose from.
“With the free YouTube Director for business app (available for iPhone today in the U.S. and Canada) anyone can create a video ad for their business quickly and easily—right from their phone,” YouTube said.
YouTube Director on-site is a separate service that is offered to businesses that spend more than $150 on YouTube adverts.
Available in select US cities including LA, Boston and Chicago, businesses can request a professional film maker to create a video advert for free.
These two features are currently available exclusively in the US and Canada. However, there are plans to expand accessibility to other countries in the future.
The final product is YouTube Director automated video which is available globally. This takes existing images including app screenshots and logos and automatically configures them into a short video advert.
These new products come as YouTube has announced a growth increase of 50 per cent for a third year in a row. Furthermore the product is likely to be highly effective as YouTube reaches more 18-to-49 year-olds than any cable network in the US, according to its own statistics.
The power of advertising on YouTube has been demonstrated by the fact that all of the Top 100 global brands have run TrueView ads over the last year.
