As we start to see the light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel there are huge questions about how we will work in the future. Some leaders, such Goldman Sachs’ CEO David Soloman, think that working-from-home is an “aberration” and are planning a full-time return to the office. Others are leaning towards a hybrid model.

Soloman thinks that working from home has undermined work culture and productivity. However, the world has changed. We’ve all changed. When the ‘joy’ of seeing co-workers back in the office has subsided, will people really want to go back to long commutes? And, will finance departments see potential savings in reducing office space?

These are big questions but ultimately, they are empirical questions. They can be answered by data. But not by purely financial data. Companies need to start to systematically collect data on how their employees are feeling. Because as 2020 proved, when we feel stressed, our productivity and work suffer.

Nic Marks, CEO and Founder of Friday Pulse, will argue there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ but being open to flexible, hybrid solutions is the key to finding what works for your organization. By asking people how they feel each week, you give your employees a voice and create a workplace culture that is empowering, agile, and listening.
