Senior Manager Internal Communications
Customers will only love a company when their employees love it first.
I believe in a corporate world where employees feel inspired at work. My career is about using the vehicle of internal communication to help people feel fulfilled in the work that they do and safe to speak up. In doing so, internal communication plays a vital role in protecting and elevating a company’s reputation. It starts from the inside.
Originally trained as a television journalist in live breakfast TV and owning a wellness business myself, I've worked across a variety of large organisations from technology at arm, and data & analytics in the London Stock Exchange, to energy at Veolia and the civil service through Covid and Brexit.
I’ve worked with global audiences across 190 countries and those in the disparate UK frontline with our refuse collectors and retail branches and observed how technology that’s developed in the Chief Operating Office impacts the reality of our frontline.
Most of my career has involved filling brand new internal communications roles for companies, building teams from the ground up and starting with a new challenge, bringing new ideas to the table to create a function that’s not just ‘taking orders’ but a valuable, trusted advisor to the organisation it serves.

Ampa Group Case Study: The Power of Participation: Unlocking Employee-Led Engagement to Elevate Internal Comms
Case Study
In today’s fast-paced workplace, connecting employees in meaningful ways while managing resources is a challenge many internal communications leaders face. In this presentation I will explore how I used strategic push, pull, and participation techniques to maximise impact when increasing the size of the internal communications team was not an option.
I’ll share how, by moving to a more dynamic, user-driven approach, I took an employee engagement app from launch to a thriving social platform – focusing on enabling people to take ownership, interact authentically, and shape the conversation themselves.
The result? Increased visibility of what matters to our people in real time, stronger cross-functional connections, and a more informed, engaged workforce – all while enabling the internal communications team to refocus on more strategic initiatives.

Levelling Up to Build a Performance Culture: In Conversation with Rachel Lees, Head of People at Moneyplus
Interview
The primary focus was to level up the leadership team in readiness for the new expectations of an incoming CEO – we had the realisation, “what got us here won’t get us there”, so needed to benchmark as a group to understand where we needed to improve.
We needed to create something that could be used as a framework for recruiting new talent into the business, aligning the way we hire with the way we develop, giving clear expectations from the outset, in addition to creating something that could be used as a way to annually review progress against behaviours that are linked to organisational goals. In a commercially driven business, we often hear from our leaders who aren’t in commercial roles, that are more project driven, that they find it hard to connect to the organisational objectives, we needed to change that and build a performance culture.
I worked with the MD to build a Leadership Capability Framework, an objective set of competencies with a marking criteria, visual output and development mapping. We designed a process that placed accountability on individuals to collate evidence and present to their line directors to validate their self-reflective scoring, before the ExCo meeting to calibrate final scoring and determine development pathways.
