Day 2 Chair’s Report: Internal Communications Conference 2020
By Charlotte Dahl, Creative Planning Director at Woodreed
Our conference this year, reflecting the current situation took on an engaging new format. A six hour live newsroom style studio format with presentations, interview and a panel debate all live streamed.
In a year of new experiences, this was another new experience all of us involved. I think we rose to the challenge and did ourselves proud.
As horrible as the pandemic has been, there has been a silver lining – the dawning of a new age for internal communications. A unique opportunity to make the leap from necessary function to business critical organisational priority. During the crisis our IC teams have risen to the fore. The new realisation is that companies can’t grow, prosper or even survive without a knowledgeable, engaged and aware workforce. A challenge made all the greater by our newly dispersed workforces.
Our Internal Communications Conference 2020 looked to celebrate our achievements as a profession during this unusual, unfamiliar, unsettling time as we highlighted the crucial role IC plays in rapidly changing times. We shared what we had learned during the pandemic and our predictions and hopes for IC as we emerge.
