With this year’s Internal Communications Conference just a few weeks away, we’ve decided to sit down with some of our world class industry speakers for a “Speaker in the Spotlight” interview to hear more about their role, responsibilities and what they are most looking forward to about the event. Today we are joined by Carly Gibbs, Head of Guest Experience at Enjoy Work Chiswick Park…

Can you provide us with an insight into a ‘day in the life’ of your role?

No day is ever the same! One of the reasons why I love what I do on our Campus is because my role is varied and exciting. I could be meeting with suppliers for an event, looking at ways to improve our visitor and Guest journey or supporting new team members in their induction.

But no matter what, our Guests will come first, so if I get a phone call from one of our Guests for advice or questions, this will take priority.

One of the main advantages of my role is that I get to be out and about for a large part of the day spending time with our team, which I believe is the heartbeat of our business.

Since the pandemic, we all had to adapt our ways of working. In my role, not being able to do physical events was hard but we took this opportunity to rethink our events programme and introduce a range of virtual events to continue to support the wellbeing of our Guests working from home.

How has Covid affected your internal communications strategies?

We adapted our communications to continue to engage with our Guests and our Teams working from home and from the office. We adapted the content of our messages as well as our communications channels.

In the last year, we issued regular COVID-19 update to inform our Guests about latest processes in place in line with Government guidelines.

We launched a New App in September 2020, to help further connect our Guests on and off Campus.

We sent out weekly newsletter to our database to keep them updated with our latest news and activities.

We continued to host our monthly building meetings but in a digital format.

We also hosted a series of virtual Forums to keep our Guests up to date on different topics: General business, Sustainability, Security, HR, etc.

What do you think the future will look like for employee engagement?

The future is bright for Customer Engagement in the workplace, but we need to continue to adapt.

Companies will continue to be more flexible and a lot of them with opt for hybrid ways of working.

Our Campus is open 24h, 7 days a week and is very international, we must ensure that we engage with everyone in the same way.

We need to continue to provide an environment that people enjoy working in, which is very much at the heart of our business. We must continue to make life easier for workers, whether they work from their office on the Campus or from home.

There are so many opportunities in this industry, it’s very exciting!

We’re very excited about hearing your thoughts and opinions on the panel discussion! Any chance we can get a sneak peek about what you will be specifically discussing?

I will be sharing some insights about our ways of working at Chiswick Park and our Enjoy-Work philosophy.

I will look back at how the pandemic impacted our business and how we adapted keeping our focus around health and wellbeing to continue to support our Guests.

I believe that the workplace plays a huge role in attracting and retaining people and we are very fortunate with the way our Campus is designed and operates.

It is a great and safe work environment especially post Covid-19.

What are you most looking forward to about the event?

I am looking forward to networking and hearing about other key leaders in the industry on how they adapted in these very strange times. I am also keen to understand what other people’s views of the future are.
