Twitter, Amazon and Google will all release their latest financial results on Thursday in a busy day for the technology industry.

Apple is also holding a live event to unveil new MacBook computers, but eyes will be on Twitter to see if the struggling social network has been able to gain new users.

The site has been plagued by doubts over its ability to draw new users to the service, which has just over 300 million compared to rival Facebook which has 1.7 billion.

Reports recently have also suggested that Disney and several other parties had explored buying the social network only to cool their interests.

Twitter has already moved the timing of its results announcement, confirming it will release its numbers before the US stock market opens in New York on Thursday morning, around 12pm UK time.

Google’s parent company Alphabet, along with online retail giant Amazon will both announce their results once markets close on Thursday with both looking to build on growth in recent quarters.

Both firms have also just launched major new projects, with Google’s new Pixel smartphone seen as a rival to Samsung and Apple’s dominance in the smartphone market.

Amazon has recently released its Echo speaker – a voice activated personal assistant that can control appliances around the home.
